Free Receipt Scanner
Last updated: August 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Free Receipt Scanner (the "App"), developed and published by Free App Dev Studio, handles information when you download and use it. We have tried to write this policy in plain, straightforward language rather than dense legal boilerplate, because we think a privacy policy should actually be readable by the people it is meant to protect. By installing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the practices described here.

2. We Do Not Collect Any Personal Data From the App

Free Receipt Scanner was built around a simple design principle: everything the App does, it does entirely on your device, and none of it requires sending information anywhere else. When you use the camera to photograph a receipt, that image is processed locally using an on-device text recognition engine, and the resulting image and any extracted text are saved to the App's own storage area on your phone. At no point in that process does the App transmit the receipt image, the extracted text, totals, categories, or any other content you create to a server operated by us or by anyone else, because the App simply does not have a server component to send it to.

Because the App does not use accounts, sign-ups, or sign-ins of any kind, there is no email address, password, phone number, or profile information for the App itself to collect or store. There is currently no cloud backup or cross-device sync feature built into the App. If a future version were to introduce an optional sync or backup feature, it would be clearly presented as an opt-in choice, explained in detail before you turned it on, and this policy would be updated in advance to describe exactly what that feature does and does not do with your data.

3. Permissions the App May Request

Depending on your device and Android version, the App may ask for permission to access your camera, so that you can photograph a receipt directly within the App, and permission to access photo or file storage, so that the App can save scanned receipts and let you import an existing image from your gallery. Each of these permissions exists solely to support a feature you have actively chosen to use. The App does not request permissions such as precise location, contacts, call history, or SMS messages, because none of the App's features rely on that information. You are free to decline any permission, though doing so will naturally limit the corresponding feature — for example, declining camera access means you will only be able to import existing images rather than scan directly.

4. Third-Party Services

The App itself does not embed third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising software development kits, and it does not display advertisements within the App. This website, free-receipt-scanner.com, is separate from the App and may display advertising served through Google's advertising network in order to support the ongoing maintenance of the App at no cost to you. Any cookies or similar technologies used to serve those advertisements are governed by Google's own privacy policy, not by us, and we do not have access to the data Google's advertising systems may collect through this website. If you would prefer not to see personalized advertising, you can adjust your ad settings through Google's ad settings page or through your browser's privacy controls.

Separately, when you install the App from the Google Play Store, Google collects certain information as part of operating the store itself, such as your download history and device details, under Google's own privacy policy. Any ratings, reviews, or correspondence you choose to leave on the Play Store listing are visible to us and to Google as the platform operator, and that relationship is likewise governed by Google's terms rather than ours.

5. When You Contact Us Directly

If you write to us at [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever content you choose to include in your message, such as a description of a problem you encountered or a screenshot. We use that information only to read, understand, and respond to your message. We do not add your email address to a marketing list, sell or share it with third parties, or use it for any purpose beyond the conversation you started with us.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed specifically at children. Because the App does not collect personal information from any user during ordinary use, this is largely a moot point in practice, but we state it here explicitly for the sake of clarity and completeness.

7. Changes to This Policy

If our data practices ever change, most likely through the introduction of a genuinely useful optional feature such as cloud backup, we will update this page to describe the change in the same plain language used throughout this policy, and we will update the "last updated" notice above accordingly. We encourage you to revisit this page from time to time, particularly before granting any new permission that an updated version of the App might request.
